Meet your Instructor
Sarah Stevens
Ms. Stevens has been a public school music teacher since 2010. Throughout the years, she has built an elementary school program based on music as a study of culture. In 2019, she was awarded Teacher of the Year and that same year she became a Fund for Teacher Fellow, sending her to Ghana, West Africa to study dance, drumming, and gyil (African xylophone).
Ms. Stevens has a Master’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from the University of New Hampshire, where she was classically trained as a vocalist.
She was born and raised in New Hampshire and came to Louisiana in 2009 in order to learn and teach about music. A lifelong learner, Ms. Stevens loves to travel and bring back new knowledge and skills to the classroom.
